Sakamoto-kun comes from a very stereotypically quaint Tokyo family, with his parents owning a fruit store in Tokyo. He joined Johnny's Jr. when he was in high school, but thought that if he didn't debut before he was 20, he wouldn't make it at all. So he actually left Johnny's for a while to become a travel agent. After a while, Johnny's asked him to return... because they needed him for their annual baseball tournament. ;;;-_- (Nagano had also left Johnny's at the same time, and was apparently upset that he wasn't asked back, too.) Work As the leader of V6, Sakamoto-kun has a very strong voice that's used for many V6 solos. His dancing is very solid, especially from a technical aspect. In one concert I've seen, Sakamoto-kun even did a center split off of a flight of stairs. I thought for sure he'd kill himself, but he did it with style and ease. Sakamoto-kun loves performing in musicals and is more active in them than most of V6: He was "Tonbo" in the "Kiki's Delivery Service" musical, "Rolph" in "The Sound of Music", and the co-star of "Footloose" with Nakazawa Yuko (famous ex-Morning Musume leader) and Imai Eriko (famous ex-SPEED member turned popular soloist). He also sang all of the songs for the Japanese version of Disney's "Tarzan" as his alter-ego, Marsa Sakamoto. Personality As the oldest member of V6, many people (including the other V6 members) joke about him being the ojiisan (old man) of V6, watching him carefully for signs that his mind or body might be falling apart. Surprisingly, the V6 members actually agree that he's probably the most fit and athletic of all of the group. He's a very good baseball player, playing for the Johnny's Entertainment baseball team. Sakamoto-kun's doesn't handle sweets, bugs, heights, or scary stories very well, and is more than willing to show his weaknesses for each of these. Even in the middle of concerts he's curled up in fear because they're making him get in a high crane! Sakamoto-kun can be extremely silly and playful at times. He loves to joke around with the other members, and childish pranks never fail to make him giggle. He's always ready to laugh, especially at himself. He tends to do things like trip and fall, or forget a costume change, or otherwise make himself look ridiculous, but he simply laughs everything away. He's never afraid to make a fool of himself for a joke. But at the same time, he takes his job as leader very seriously. There are times when he snaps into leader mode, and acts very responsible, reliable, and very demanding. Even with people he barely knows in Gakkou e Ikou! segments, he adamently refuses to let them give up, insisting that they have to stick it out to the end. He also apparently has quite the temper, and has famously blown up at Go before. Fun Anecdotes & Misc.
Sakamoto-kun is good friends with all of ToniSen, but his relationships with KamiSen tend to be more brotherly than anything else. The younger KamiSen members were apparently afraid of him at first because he didn't talk to them much, but it was just because he was shy. For me, Ken and Sakamoto-kun have the oddest relationship. Ken tends to yell at him and chide him for being stupid, but despite his temper, Sakamoto-kun takes it surprisingly mildly. During one Gakkou e Ikou segment, Ken kept admonishing Sakamoto-kun like a child, saying things like, "Now look where you're stepping next time... Oh look at you, NOW look what you did~!" However, Sakamoto-kun would either laugh or not react at all.
