Literally, "musha-shugyo" refers to a warrior traveling around in order to perfect their art. So the title of the book literally means something along the lines of "an idol who is still working to perfect their trade".

This set of 37(!?) essays and photos comes from Inocchi's regular stint as a guest columnist in the magazine "Nikkei Entertainment!" Thirty-five of the essays were published in the magazine from June 2002 to March 2005, with the last two essays (and afterword) written specifically for this collection. The topics range from V6 related (like how a Johnny's concert is made), entertainment related (waxing philosophic on the price of tickets and flowers for concerts), and Inocchi related (visiting Las Vegas with friend and popular singer Moriyama Naotaro).

Having said that, these topics are always approximates. Inocchi has a rather amusing style of writing and he tends to weave dangerously in and around his topics, jumping from one train of thought to another. If you can follow his diverging thoughts, you'll actually find some interesting insights into Japanese entertainment, Johnny's, and Inocchi's mind (a wild and wacky place to be). He even changed my opinion slightly about Takarazuka, when he commented about the over-the-top costumes, "They're actually quite useful... You can always tell who the leads are, because the bigger the star, the more their costumes and makeup glitter onstage." Ah, that makes sense, actually. Besides, if anyone knows about glittery glowing costumes, it would be Johnny's.

The sixteen pages of photographs are quite cute. They're jam-packed with backstage shots, vacation photos, and adorable childhood photos. But my favorite have to be the following two photographs, taken from Inocchi's own house. The geek in me squeals with excitement just looking at them.
