Main Characters Nanjou Satoshi | Eguchi Ryo | Sawada Azuma

Morita Go as Nanjou Satoshi The cool captain of Cosmic Rescue Division 89. A dramatic rescue with partner Chiba Sosuke two years ago made him a hero pilot among CR, and even gave him the starring role in the "Cosmic Rescue" comics series. But now, Nanjou spends his days collecting debris with his small crew. Nanjou is a calm, collected, experienced leader of their little ship, rarely showing extreme emotion or passion about anything. However, it's hinted that he was far different in the past, and that something happened to change his nature. Much to Eguchi's displeasure, Nanjou is also a smoker.

Miyake Ken as Eguchi Ryou The techie and mechanic for #89, although he's really the only one who does much of anything. He holds great love for machines and his ship, even if his methods go against the official mechanical practices of CR. Eguchi is not only the brains of the ship, but his pure heart make him the soul of it, too. Eguchi also plays the important role of "narrator" at several points in the movie.

Okada Jun'ichi as Sawada Azuma The rookie of the group, Azuma joined CR thanks to his great love for the "Cosmic Rescue" comics. He idolized Nanjou and has grand dreams of being a hero himself. He's an extremely passionate young man, who never walks when he can run, and never talks when he can yell. He has a tendancy to speak and act before he thinks, but his passion and dedication come from his desire to help others, no matter the cost to himself. Due to Azuma's extremely active nature, he despises the menial work of picking up debris.
