Cosmic Rescue Making Log (30 min.) Some similar shots to the "Making of Cosmic Rescue" DVD, but this time with commentary. Most of it was new, though, showing more spoiler scenes. Very interesting, and watching the low, low tech special effects made me laugh pretty hard. Let's put it this way: every single monitor was a pre-recorded tape deck, and flashing effects were accomplished thanks to two guys unplugging and replugging the lights. There were also some great shots of, say, Okada-kun trying to figure out how to block his fight with a far larger man, and Ken-ken after hurting his hand pretty badly when he dramatically slammed the switch for the flare bomb.
Coming Century Interview (10 min.)
Staff Interview (10 min.)
VFX Making (10 min.)
Fascinatingly low tech. Lots of painstakingly created models and green screen.
Key Words
Not only are the key words self-explanitory, but the definitions are in Japanese.

Movie DVD, Disc 2 Features:
(Available only on the Limited Version)
Visual Commentary (84 min.)
This feature is a full commentary of the entire movie, but the screen is split between the movie and a shot of the director talking with Coming Century. Go-tsun and Okada-kun are both rather low-key and somewhat embarassed, but while Go-tsun gets embarrassed by his emotional scenes, Okada-kun is embarassed by how "young" he was. Ken-ken is very excited the whole time. His favorites scenes seem to all involve Go-tsun in the phone booth, but was also very proud of his speech to Tachibana towards the end. Much like any commentary, the bulk was random but somewhat amusing conversations about topics like how good the "crab pasta" actually tasted (pretty good), how hot and hard to move it was in the space suits (very), and how many romances were hinted at in the movie (many).

Some fun tidbits, though: the air mattress on the bed in ship #89 was apparently so squeaky that they had to rerecord all of the dialogue every time Okada-kun moved. Ken-ken said that he had to ice his hand after slamming it down to fire the flare bomb. Okada-kun and Ken-ken really did just shoot the entire scene in the escape pod just by cramming in together. They both said it was very hard to shoot when you'd turn your head and find someone inches from your face. And in my favorite musing, Ken-ken pointed out that even after his character got to the point where he knew he wasn't going to leave the ship, he didn't even take off his helmet. He just sweated it out in the space suit for no good reason.
CR Monitor Collection (3 min.)
A hysterical feature. All of the many many monitors used throughout Cosmic Rescue were the result of someone painstakingly designing a screen. This feature takes a quick tour through all of the different monitors. My personal favorite is the flipping skeleton one that confused Ken so much; the director insisted that it was a screen saver, but I don't believe him.

Limited Version Extras:
Large "delivery" box
Not only is is bulky, but I'm unfortunately tempted to see if I can mail it.
Ship #89 model keychain
Complete with flashing "flare bomb" feature. It looks far too nice to use, so I haven't taken it out of the packaging yet.
