Miseinen no Shuchou | Stylist Junsa Go Morita | Shounen Okada/Seinen Okada
Miseinen no ShuchouThe title of this segment is really hard to explain... it's somewhere around "Youth Opinions", but that's not quite right... so I just refer to it as Miseinen no Shuchou. Basically what happens is that two V6 members go to an elementary, middle, or high school and set up a platform on the roof. Students from the school are chosen to get up on the platform, with their classmates gathered below and V6 watching on one side, and simply speak their minds. The results are random student confessions that are sometimes odd, sometimes hysterical, sometimes touching, and always lots of fun. Basically every single episode of Gakkou e Ikou! has a Miseinen no Shuchou segment. There's usually lots of messages for parents or teachers, showing of random talents, and shouts exclaiming life's latest frustrations. There's also almost always a kokuhaku, or confession of love, ending in the dramatic question, "Will you go out with me?" This is always V6's favorite part... they have a tendacy to get extremely worked up while waiting to find out whether or not he/she will say yes. Oh, the drama of school-aged romance~! For those who are curious, the picture on the top left is a first-grade boy, professing his extremely enthousiastic love for his baby sister, Aa-chan. It shows a typical shuchou, with a student carefully harnessed on top of their multi-story (usually 3-4 stories high) school. The picture on the top right shows Inocchi and Sakamoto, watching the shuchou and cracking up at the strange results. This particular one is after a young man, who once participated in an old Gakkou e Ikou! segment, delivered a hysterical shuchou asking why in the world Nagano-kun tried to comfort him by saying, "It's so cold, you could pound a nail in with your wee-wee." N-Nagano-kun...
Stylist Junsa Go MoritaThis is Go's famous Fashion Cop segment. Basically, Go and another member of V6 prowl the streets of Omotesando (a hip district in Tokyo) looking for a poor fashion victim for Go to makeover. Along the way, of course, they always end up meeting all sorts of strange characters. It gives Go a good excuse to put on his fur jacket (or vest in the summer), big sunglasses, and arm himself with creative Nerf weaponry with which to subdue any fashion criminals... or to randomly whack people with, either way... This segment is absolutely hysterical and one of my favorites. It used to occur regularly with almost every episode of Gakkou e Ikou! However, I haven't seen a segment in ages. The shot of Go on the top right is really how I think of him while on patrol: smiling, wearing a horribly flashy outfit, armed with a Nerf bat. He took his fur vest off due to the heat, and although it's not pictured, the outfit was completed with his favorite belt buckle: a massive beetle complete with moving legs. Absolutely hideous.
Shounen OkadaSeinen Okada This segment wasn't particularly long-running, but was simply hysterical. As the youngest member of V6, Okada-kun used to have a segment called Shounen Okada (roughly "Okada Boy"). In this segment, Okada-kun would appear on the rooftops and was challenged to learn all sorts of strange things, such as double dutch, BMX, stilts, juggling, or trapeze. Not only does it sound like it was lots of fun, but I'm sure it was a good way to teach tricks to the only V6 member who wasn't a Johnny's Jr. Most of the challanges were done by himself, although Sakamoto-kun and KinKi Kids's Tsuyoshi-kun also made appearances. Later on, when Okada-kun finally became an adult, he had a few segments as Seinen Okada (roughly "Okada Man"). In this segment, Okada-kun took a challenge alongside young kids who wanted to challenge and change themselves. He did double dutch (pictured top right), juggling (while balancing on giant rubber balls), and instrumental performances (he got a whole 18 or so hours to learn a piano part and solo for a brass band) with these kids, and did a surprisingly good job. I loved this segment because you really got to see Okada-kun as an adult. Even more than the actual challanges, Okada-kun was simply amazing at encouraging these kids and not letting them give up. He would take them aside, calm them down and talk them through their tears and frustration. It was also highly amusing because between Okada-kun's seriousness and his exhaustion, his Kansai-ben (Osakan dialect) would get stronger as the segment wore on. Wow, he really IS from Osaka...
