We adore Gackt. We love him with a passion, we just adore him. He’s the greatest artist of all time, I’m really convinced of this. So it’s no surprise that Mako-chan made several real people skins of Gackt for our collection. I love all of Mako-chan’s Gackt skins, but I don’t just love “Pink Spider” because of the skin itself; I also love it because of the background story. The skin is great fun in and of itself, but when it came time to name it, Mako-chan didn’t know what the title should be. So she asked for my opinion, and the very first thing I thought when I saw it was “Pink Spider.” For those who don’t know, it’s the title of a song by another very famous Japanese visual rocker, the infamous hide. It seemed extremely ironic to name a Gackt skin after a hide song, but I just couldn’t think of another title. “Pink Spider” was perfect, and so it stuck. The other story behind it is the reason why she made it. While in Japan, I happened to be at my local mall when I noticed that there was a radio event going on. The last act… Gackt. So, of course, I stayed around and 2 hours later, I saw Gackt. @_@ Not only was I right above him on the balcony, but I’m pretty sure that he noticed the American hanging onto the railing and staring at him. @_@ It was the happiest day of my life.
