Eien no Hikari
Eternal Light
Sung by: Seki Toshihiko (Tamahome)
Translated by: Mina-P (Email: Minako@senshigakuen.com)
Version 2.00
Note: "What?! Seki Toshihiko wasn't Tamahome!!" Everyone who said that OMEDETOU~ you get half credit for knowing that much. But, sorry, Seki Toshihiko WAS Tamahome, but only in the Fushigi Yuugi CD Books. This is a beautiful song from book #4, which covers the Seiryuu calling through returning to the real world for those of you who know FY. It's heart-breakingly beautiful, just another kudos to Seki-sama.
tabi ni deta kimi ni wa yasuragi ga aru no kai
giniro no hoshikuzu tsutsumarete nemure yo
mayoi suteta ano hi no kimi wa kagayaiteita yo
yukue kitto shinjiteireba sora wa hirogatteyuku
Is there peace in you who's left on your journey
The silver stardust covers you as you sleep
Lost and cast aside, that day you were shining
If you believe in where you are, the sky will open for you
hoshi yo terase yo eien no hikari de
ano ko o tsutsumu you ni zutto
tsuki yo terase yo eien no sabaku o
michibiteokure yo
The stars shine down with an eternal light
Like they're always covering her
The moon shines down upon the eternal desert
Sending guidance
taiyou ga nobotte daichi made kogashite
kumo no nai sora de wa kokoro made yaketsuku
gobi ni yureru kagerou no naka kimi o sagashiteru
hitomi tojite mimi o sumaseba koe ga kikoete kisouna
The sun rises until the earth scorches
In the cloudless sky, the heart burns
Shaking in the Gobi, inside of a heat haze, I'm searching for you (1)
Close your eyes, listen with your heart, the voice is barely audible
yume o sono te ni tsukamasete agetai
ashita o tsutsumu you ni motto
dakishimetakute kuchizuke o shitakute
aeru hi o machiwabi
aeru hi o machiwabi
I want to let you seize the dream with your hands
Like you can wrap up tomorrow
I want to hold you more closely and kiss you
Endlessly waiting until the day we meet
Endlessly waiting until the day we meet
(1) Kagerou is one of my favorite words in the Japanese language. On one hand, it can refer to a heat haze, the thing that makes the air above the ground seem to shimmer on a hot day. On another hand, it refers to something ephemeral, or short-lived. Both the word and the implication are used beautifully in these lyrics.
Lyrics belong to Kajiwara Shigehito and Shogakukan, taken from the Fushigi Yuugi 4 CD book, WCD-011 (track 24). Not like the words make any sense if you haven't heard the song, anyway. Romanized and translated into English very badly by Mina-P, with desperately needed help, as always, by Mako-chan. Any comments or corrections can be mailed to Mina-P at Minako@senshigakuen.com.
