Wandering
Sung by: Furusawa Tohru (Nakago)

Version 2.00
Note: If you're a Fushigi Yuugi fan, you probably already know all about the amazing collection of FY character songs. And in the realm of FY character songs, Nakago is infamous. Mainly because it seems to be agreed among fans that Nakago's songs are about on the same level of enjoyment as dancing through hordes of killer bees. While you won't see me running to the defense of Blue Eyes, Blue, I have to say something about Houkou. I've always really enjoyed the song: it's very well written, it's extremely emotional, and Furusawa-san does a very good performance. I've never understood why it's gotten a bad rap. After translating it, I really didn't understand. The lyrics are very well written, and very touching for Nakago's character. So read the lyrics, listen to the song again, I bet you'll like it. I mean, it's not like it's MITSUKAKE or something...
fukai yami to tomo ni ikiteru
kizu darake no kokoro wa tsurugi
I live with deep darkness
My heart full of wounds is a sword
ware ni shitagau mono igai chigazuku koto wa yousha shinai
Except for those who follow me, I won't forgive getting close
ushinau mono hitotsu nai kara
osore no nai buki wa surudoi
Because there isn't one thing I miss
My weapon that's not afraid of anything is sharp
gareki no machi o neriaruku hamukau kizashi uchikudaite
I march through the useless streets and smash down the omens that oppose me
tatakau sasurau soshite nemuru
senshi no kokoro ni ai wa iranai
Fight, wander, and then sleep
In a warrior's heart, there's no need for love
warera no jisho ni make wa nai
yabureru toki wa hateru inochi
We don't know the meaning for the word, "defeat"
Broken down time is the end of life
tatakau sasurau soshite nemuru
shouri no michi shika tsune ni iranai
Fight, wander, and then sleep
I never need anything but the way to victory
tatakau sasurau soshite nemuru
yasuragi hohoemi ima wa iranai
Fight, wander, and then sleep
Now, there is no need for a peaceful smile
Lyrics belong to Aoki Kumiko, taken from the Fushigi Yuugi: Seiryuu no Gyakushuuhen album, APCM-5086 (track 2). Not like the words make any sense if you haven't heard the song, anyway. Romanized and translated into English very badly by Mina-P, with desperately needed help, as always, by Mako-chan. Any comments or corrections can be mailed to Mina-P at Minako@senshigakuen.com.
