4th...
Lyrics, Written, Sung by: Gackt Camui

Version 1.00
Note: The first song from Gackt’s wonderful sophomore album, Rebirth. Like the album itself, which can be read as "Rebirth" or "Reverse" (homonyms in Japanese), 4th... can be read two ways. The first is the less obvious, as "force." That one word actually sums up one of the major themes in Gackt’s album. The second is obvious, "4th." Not only a convenient homonym, it becomes extremely obvious after listening to the song that 4th can stand for "The 4th Reich." Visual rock artists in Japan just love bringing in German lyrics, don’t they? Anyway, the title can be read both ways, and the song itself is too great. It reminds me of a pretentious German art film, involving scenes like Mr. Kool-aid laid over a shot of an atom bomb exploding (10 points if you get that reference).
mabushikute...
daichi wa kowasareyuku
jiyuu o motomeru mono no akari
kurayami...
kioku...
subete sonzai shinai
koko ni sonzai shiteiru
ashiato
mioboe no aru keshiki
dare no mono?
watashi no de wa nai
tsumetai menazashi...
mune no naka de hibiku kotoba
seijaku
mune no oku ni tsukisasaru
kimi no you de aritakatta
dazzling...
the earth is being destroyed
proof of the one asking for freedom
darkness...
memory...
nothing exists
it exists here
footprints
the familiar scenery
whose is it?
not mine
cold look...
words that resound in my heart
silence
pierced into my chest
i wanted to exist like you
Lyrics belong to Gackt Camui and Nippon Crown, taken from the Rebirth album, CRCP-40001 (track 1). Not like the words make any sense if you haven’t heard the song, anyway. Romanized and translated into English very badly by Mina-P, with desperately needed help, as always, by Mako-chan. Any comments or corrections can be mailed to Mina-P at Minako@senshigakuen.com.
