Kimi no Tame ni Dekiru Koto
What I Can Do For You
Lyrics, Written, Sung by: Gackt Camui

Version 1.10
Note: This is Gackt's [quickly counting] eighth single, Kimi no Tame ni Dekiru Koto/Cube. I bought this great single as a White Day (the Japanese Valentine's type holiday where men give to their girlfriends) present for myself the day it was released. ^_^ As you might expect from a single released on White Day, Kimi no Tame is a helplessly adorable and really really sweet little song. I'd also like to point out since you won't notice that Gackt used quite a bit more hiragana instead of kanji in this song, especially for him. He's usually the kind of lyricist who likes to make up kanji combinations for words that don't exist, which make his songs fascinating and multi-layered, but also rather hard for me to read. This change makes Kimi no Tame incredibly easy to read and gives it a somewhat childlike, cute, innocent feel.
Forever, I will remain near only you
From when I held you in my arms
From when I noticed the signs
adokenai egao ni miseta kimi ni
namida no wake o kikenakute
boku no tsukanda te o furihodoite...
sotto senakagoshi ni koe o kaketa
You flashed me an innocent smile
So I didn't ask for the reason behind your tears (1)
You shook off my hand that held yours...
Softly over your back I started saying
"mou daijoubu da yo" to, nando mo kurikaeshite
chiisaku furueteru kimi ni
sonna kotoba shika ienai keredo
"It's okay now," I repeated over and over again
I couldn't say anything but that
To your faintly trembling self but
Always, I will remain near only you
Until I've held you in my arms
Until you've noticed the signs
nanigenai hanashi no naka de
kimi no miseta egao ga ureshikute
hanasanai mama tsubuyaita
I'm so happy because in a casual conversation
You smiled at me
You looked a little embarrassed as you smiled
I won't let go of you so I murmured
"mou daijoubu..." nante koto shika ienai kedo
sono namida ga mou kieru nara
boku ga kimi no piero ni naru kara
"It's okay now..." I couldn't say anything but that
If those tears soon disappear
Because I've become your clown then
Always, I will remain near only you
From when I held you in my arms
From when I noticed the signs
te ni shita egao no kazu yori
namida wa ooi kamoshirenai kedo
~soba ni iru~
sore ga boku no
kimi no tame ni dekiru koto
Perhaps the number of tears have been
Greater than the number of smiles but
~Stay close by~
That is
What I can do for you
Always, I will remain near only you
From when I held you in my arms
From when I noticed the signs
itsudatte boku dake wa...
kimi o hanashitari wa shinai kara
boku ga kimi o mamotte miseru kara...
Always, only I...
Because I can't let go of you
Because I'll absolutely protect you...
kono yokan ni kizuita kara
From when I noticed the signs
(1) While the kanji in this line says riyuu, the word sung is wake. Both basically mean reason and can actually be used interchangeable, but wake has the additional connotations of meaning. So in this line, it indicates not only the reason behind the tears, but the meaning behind them as well.
Lyrics belong to Gackt Camui and Nippon Crown, taken from the Rebirth album, CRCP-40001 (track 11) or the Kimi no Tame ni Dekiru Koto/Cube single, CRCP-10015 (track 1). Not like the words make any sense if you haven't heard the song, anyway. Romanized and translated into English very badly by Mina-P, with desperately needed help, as always, by Mako-chan.
