It's in fact a song about someone's lost love, and the love song that betrayed them. Refreshingly enough, the song's tone of lost love isn't melancholy, but very straight-forward and even somewhat pathetic. The verse about the ruined bouquet lying on the street almost makes me want to laugh. The lyrics, interestingly enough, are written by Kawaguchi Kyogo, who finally hit it big at the end of 2003 with his love song (a REAL love song) "Sakura".

marude shottgan de uchinukareta mitai ni boku no mune kara sora ga nozoki
kimi no saigo no hitokoto ga mada atama no naka de narihibiiteiru
tsuyoi kaze ga kimi o makikonde satteita...

Like I was hit with a shotgun, you can see straight through the hole in my heart
The last words you said to me are still ringing in my head
Like a strong wind simply picked you up, you were gone...

tsumetai tsuki no suhada hodoite kuchizuketa ano yoru wa mou
ima wa hoka no dareka no mono mayoikonda kisetsu ni asa ga tookute
kusuburitsuzuketeru omoi o kakikesu tame ni utaeba
arifureta merodii sae mo karadajuu o nagareru nami ni kawatta

Those kisses that unraveled the cold moon that night is already gone
Now you're someone else's when you're lost, morning seems so far away
I try drowning out these still smouldering feelings by singing
But even the familiar melody turns into pounding waves running through my body

kudakechiru hizashi no naka de boku wa kimi o miushinatteita
kawaita kioku ga mabushisa ni kawatteiki tachidomatta Sun Shine
onaji kaori de furikaeru gogo hotsureteshimaisou na PRIDE momikucha no PRIDE

In the shattered sunlight I lost sight of you
My parched memory changes in the dazzling light in the pause of the Sun Shine
That same smell takes me back to that afternoon my frayed PRIDE my overflowing PRIDE

asufaruto ni hikarabiteku okurareru hazu no hana ga
toorisugiru kuruma ni yotte tsubusarete makkuro na shimi o tsukutta
guuzen o yosootte nante imasara aenai kuuki o
kanjiteiru kimochi wa naze ka rinkaku dake o tamotou to shita

The flowers that I'm sure I sent you are shriveling on the asphalt
They're crushed by the passing cars and have made a black stain on the ground
I was going to pretend that it was a coincidence but I can't meet you now, with this atmosphere
For some reason my feelings make sure to stick to their broad outlines, and not look any deeper

kudakechiru hizashi no naka de boku wa kimi o miushinatteita
kawaita kioku ga mabushisa ni kawatteiki tachidomatta Sun Shine
ano hi kuchizusandeta merodii ga rajio kara nagare mune o sashita kono mune o sashita

In the shattered sunlight I lost sight of you
My parched memory changes in the dazzling light in the pause of the Sun Shine
The melody you hummed that day runs on the radio and pierces my heart pierces through my heart

kudakechiru hizashi no naka de boku wa kimi o miushinatteita
ano hi kuchizusandeta merodii ga rajio kara nagare mune o sashita
ano hi to onaji hizashi wa shiroku subete no iro o ubatteita
ano hi kuchizusandeta merodii ga rajio kara nagare mune o sashita kono mune o sashita

In the shattered sunlight I lost sight of you
The melody you hummed that day runs on the radio and pierces my heart
The sunlight is white just as it was that day it steals away all color
The melody you hummed that day runs on the radio and pierces my heart pierces through my heart

kimi ga wasuretetta CD to heaaburashi soshite nanmaika no shashin
futari itsumo kiiteta LOVE SONG o ima
hitori kiku toki wa itsumo onaji toikake o kurikaeshiteru
subete ga hajime kara kounaru koto o kono kyoku wa shitteita no darou ka to

Your forgotten CD and hairbrush and countless photos
The LOVE SONG that we always listened to together
I listen to it alone now, and ask myself the same question over and over
Did this song know what would happen all along?

Lyrics belong to Kawaguchi Kyogo and Avex Trax, taken from the Replay ~Best of 20th Century album, AVCD-17420~1 (disc 2, track 2). Not like the words make any sense if you haven't heard the song, anyway. Romanized and translated into English very badly by Mina-P, with desperately needed help, as always, by Mako-chan.
