WHITE FLAME
Sung by: Weiß

Version 2.00
Note: This song has simply some of the best lyrics out there. I always say that Weiß Kreuz songs are all about darkness, killing, or sex, but the good ones have all three. That being said, in four simple verses through the use of double entendres and symbolism the lyrics manage to cover it all. In another fun fact for the song, the reason for the astounding lyrics probably lies in the fact that the lyricist is the same person who wrote the script for the album's drama. No wonder the writing's so good!
samekaketa nukumori akai kuchizuke o
kagerou no yo(u) ni mau hitoyo no tawamure
Crimson kisses in the half-cooled warmth
Dancing like fleeting shadows, one night's play (1)
wasureteshimaueba ii to kokoro wa shitteiru
keredo kono atsui kizu o karada wa kesenai
It's okay if you forget all about it as your heart knows
But your body can't erase this burning wound
Burnin' Burnin' in the night
Runnin' Runnin' to the light
Hurtin' Hurtin' in the night
White flames, Night games, Lonely fight
amai yume miru yo(u) ni odayaka ni nemure
shiroi honoo idaki moetsukita yoru wa
Like you're seeing naïve dreams, you sleep peacefully
The night that's burned out embraces the white flame
munashisa ni hitomi fusete yodomu kage ni tatsu
kegareta yaiba no saki ni mashou ga kagayaku
In vain, drop your eyes and stand in stagnant shadows
In the tip of a stained sword, devilishness glistens
Rollin' Rollin' in the night
Callin' Callin' to the light
Fallin' Fallin' in the night
White flames, Night games, Lonely fight
Burnin' Burnin' in the night
Runnin' Runnin' to the light
Hurtin' Hurtin' in the night
White flames, Night games, Lonely fight
Burnin' Burnin' in the night
Runnin' Runnin' to the light
Hurtin' Hurtin' in the night
White flames, Night games, Lonely fight
Rollin' Rollin' in the night
Callin' Callin' to the light
Fallin' Fallin' in the night
White flames, Night games, Lonely fight
Burnin' Burnin' in the night
Runnin' Runnin' to the light
Hurtin' Hurtin' in the night
White flames, Night games, Lonely fight
Rollin' Rollin' in the night
Callin' Callin' to the light
Fallin' Fallin' in the night
White flames, Night games, Lonely fight
(1) Two short notes for this line. First, kagerou, one of my favorite Japanese words of all time, refers to the shimmer of heated air or something ephemeral. As the kanji form usually uses kage (shadows), I translated it above as "fleeting shadows." Also, tawamure means "play" and "sport" and such, but it also has the connotation of joking and flirtation.
Lyrics belong to Kanemaki Kenichi and Warner Music Japan, taken from the Weiß Kreuz Dramatic Image Album II album, MMCM-1002 (track 1). Not like the words make any sense if you haven't heard the song, anyway. Romanized and translated into English very badly by Mina-P, with desperately needed help, as always, by Mako-chan.
