ABOUT E'S!

THE ARTIST: Yuiga Satoru
Yuiga Satoru's main work has been E'S (pronounced like the letter 's') for G Fantasy Comics, but her other major work was drawing the manga for the series Tokyo Juushouden. At the time of making this page, E'S spans spans 6 ongoing large volumes, CD dramas, and art book, while Tokyo Juushouden is starting its second series of OVA animations.

THE STORY
Somewhere, sometime in the future, there exists an organization called "Ashurum." Ashurum trains super-powered children and teenagers to work for the government. But there are some questions about the authority and power of Ashurum: Who are these super-powered people? And what is Ashurum's real purpose? In this world, one of Ashurum's newcomers, Kai Kudou, meets a normal human from the streets, Tokugawa Yuuki. Yuuki works for a mysterious guerilla organization, and is told he's the chosen one to find "The Sacrament of Carvaria." Kai's mission as Ashurum is to hunt this organization down. As the story unfolds, their lives become somehow intertwined and more and more people get drawn into the mystery: What is Ashurum? What is the Sacrament of Carvaria? What the heck's going on!?

NOTES FROM MINAKO-KOUCHOU
When I went to Japan, one of my missions from Mako-chan was to hunt down the series E'S for her. She didn't know anything about it, but the artwork was beautiful, so she decided she had to have it. The series is still very much ongoing, but I was captivated by the story and collected the current number of 6 volumes almost right away. The story is basically perfect for the Senshi Gakuen... super-powers, fight scenes, traumatic childhoods, priests, doctors, flying blood and innards, and large guns (that part's for me). Plus Yuiga-sensei's artwork is really incredible. I decided as a surprise for Mako-chan that I'd translate all 6 volumes of E'S for her... well I got the first volume done, which was good for me. Something that you might notice in the translation that differs from other series I've done is that E'S has much less dialogue. Other series I translate tend to tell the story in dialogue and thought; E'S is very much a visual series, especially at the beginning. So what am I trying to say here? To really enjoy the series, you really do have to buy the manga. Trust me, though, the artwork is far more than worth it. Buy buy buy da pyon~!
